Jitu is young kindergarten student from Ethiopia. She is 7 years old and her father - the breadwinner of their family - works at farm.
Jitu has been under multiple antibiotics treatment for the last 3 years. Despite the treatments, for the past 3 years, she has recurrent high grade fever, headaches, sore throat, difficulty speaking clearly, and has difficulty breathing. She has difficulty swallowing and eating, and because of this, she has developed malnutrition. She has needed to miss school regularly because of her condition. Doctors have diagnosed Jitu with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time - continuing to impact her growth and development.
Our medical partner, Saglan Wajee General Hospital, is requesting $700 to fund a tonsillectomy for Jitu, which is scheduled to take place on November 23rd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Jitu of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably.
Her parents shared, “we hope our girl would be healthy and get back to school continuing with her education.”
